Amager Resource Centre – Copenhagen, Denmark

The iconic Amager Resource Centre in Copenhagen by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) is an enormous and innovative refuse processing center that combines an incinerating unit with an urban public ski facility. Kalwall® explosion venting panels provide protection for the building and the ski slope above in case of a boiler rupture.

Kalwall was shipped directly from the factory in New Hampshire to the construction site in Kathmandu. Three skylights were erected, two ridge roofs with hipped ends and a 90° Kalcurve® vault.

Metro Workshops – Dubai

Pfizer facility – Mumbai

Kalwall explosion venting panels are a key safety feature at a Pfizer facility in Mumbai. The work areas are lit with a diffuse natural daylight. Kalwall supplied the panel units to include sash for glazing.

 


 

Synthon incorporated

Synthon – San Lorenzo, Argentina

Synthon incorporated Kalwall’s explosion venting panels into their San Lorenzo facility in Argentina for safety and for natural lighting in critical work and equipment areas. In the case of an unanticipated explosive event inside the building, the panels release in order to protect the integrity of the building and its contents. Panels are supported by cables and can be easily and inexpensively remounted.

 


 

HHHIF Orthopedic Clinic

HHHIF Orthopedic Clinic – Port au Prince, Haiti 

Kalwall was specified for the HHHIF Orthopedic Clinic in Port au Prince Haiti for hurricane wind resistance and for cool natural daylighting in the interior unconditioned space. The clinic offers a comfortable and calming interior space away from the chaos of the city.

ABB – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

ABB’s plant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia uses Kalwall on perimeter walls to illuminate the factory space without admitting excessive heat in the severe desert climate.

 


 

The Cuatro Caminos Shopping Center

Cuatro Caminos Shopping Center – Torreón, Mexico

The Cuatro Caminos Shopping Center (CIMACO) in Torreón, Mexico was inaugurated in 2001. The central atrium areas are illuminated with Kalwall self-supporting ridge roofs, a pyramid, and a Geo-Roof® with structural elements supplied by Kalwall’s sister company, Structures Unlimited Inc.

 


 

Diario de Juárez

Diario de Juárez newspaper – Juárez

The editorial offices of the Diario de Juárez newspaper are illuminated by two self-supporting ridge roofs with hipped ends. The insulation specified limits heat gain in this office area and avoids excessive load on air-conditioning equipment during the extreme heat of Juárez summers.

 


 

Winchester Business Centre

Winchester Business Centre – Kingston, Jamaica

Winchester Business Centre in Kingston, Jamaica enjoys cool, natural lighting under a 90° Kalcurve vault. This central area of the building is not air-conditioned. Kalwall provides a soft, diffused daylighting while maintaining a comfortable temperature in the space. The skylight resisted the 180 KPH winds of Hurricane Dean with no damage or leakage.

 


 

Smithsonian Tropical Research Laboratory

Smithsonian Tropical Research Laboratory – Bocas del Toro, Panama

Kalwall was used as a ceiling under a pitched roof that incorporates glass inserts and photovoltaic panels that generate electricity for the building. The gables at each end of the building are open and expose the Kalwall to rain and weather.

 


 

Valeo Electical Systems

Valeo Electical Systems – San Luis Potosí, Mexico

Kalwall illuminates the assembly bays at this industrial plant. The original Kalwall installation was in 1996 with additions in 2001 and 2007. All three construction phases incorporated Kalwall skylights.

 


 

Soriana Hypermarkets

Soriana Hypermarkets – Mexico

Soriana Hypermarkets – Mexico use Kalwall self supporting ridge roofs in super markets in San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Durango and Monterrey. The skylights illuminate the fresh fruit and vegetable section without admitting heat that would shorten the life of these perishables.

This skylight with colored inserts graces the lobby for a special effect.

 


 

Riteway Cash and Carry Market

Riteway Cash and Carry Market Tortola – British Virgin Islands

Kalwall is used to naturally illuminate the Riteway Cash and Carry Market in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. The Kalwall is configured to resist hurricane force winds. Riteway is currently building a substantial addition which includes an extension of the Kalwall façade.

This installation remained intact and strong through Hurricane Irma (Sept. 2017).
